Goodboy 0.27.3
A folder without git is a full workspace: agents edit it in place, every turn is saved, and Auto picks each model from the role, the provider and the step.
New
Plain folders without git
A folder with no git history opens as a workspace. Goodboy asks what it is for, Code project or Documents, and preselects the answer from what the folder holds. An empty folder or a tie asks you at Create. Home, Folders and Storage show each folder's face, and Settings, Folders switches it later.
In a Documents folder, Word, PDF, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, Excel and PowerPoint files are read and never rewritten.
Agents edit in place, every turn saved
One session writes in a plain folder at a time, in the folder itself. Another session that wants to write waits, and can answer without editing meanwhile. Goodboy saves the files a turn may change before it runs, and each writing turn ends in a card with Review changes and Restore turn.
Changes in the session rail lists every turn with the files it added, changed or removed. Saved versions go 30 days after the session ends.
First commit, and git that appears later
Track a Code folder with git when it is created or later from Settings, Folders. Goodboy shows what goes in before the first commit and leaves out dependencies, build output and secrets.
When git appears in a folder on its own, a Code folder switches to it between turns, and a Documents folder asks once.
Models chosen by role, provider and step
Auto picks a model for each role from one ladder per provider, five rungs from Quick to Top, and a small or large step moves the rung. The Models page shows what Auto runs for each size.
A switch for typed requests, off by default, lets a short classifier start a Scout, Planner, Debugger or Reviewer when it is sure.
New boot splash
Goodboy starts on a splash with the tile, the name and a progress bar that fills with each boot phase, then crossfades into the app. The window opens once the first frame is painted, so light theme never flashes dark.
Improved
Select without checkboxes
Sidebar sessions and Board cards select by clicking with Shift, Option, Command or Control, or with Select in the row menu. Branches, Review and Storage keep their checkboxes.
Branch rows
A branch row reads the pull request title, else the branch name, with one signal: failing checks, a conflict or commits behind. The host shows as a logo alone, and rail cards sit on one inset.
Light theme backdrop
The backdrop glow is stronger in light theme, so it reads.
Agents and Auto agents markers
Agents no longer reads Deprecated. Auto agents keeps its Experimental marker, now in the attention yellow.
Composer toolbar in a narrow drawer
The composer toolbar stays inside a narrow drawer.
Fixed
- A failed Auto start keeps its cause on the row.
- A history rewrite is no longer handed to Auto. Auto says to use the History flow or an Implementer.
- Auto gives a task that runs a command only to a role with a shell.
- Artifact text inside a code fence no longer shows in the chat, and a block that never closed stays text.
- A child's answer in the drawer renders as markdown.
- The close shortcut closes the terminal tab with the sessions list on screen.
- A run's count row keeps its place when the run opens or folds.
